Parthenium hysterophorus Weed Fecundity and Seed Survival at Different Soil pH and Burial Conditions

چکیده
Parthenium hysterophorus L. is regarded as one of the most invasive weed species. This study evaluated effect soil pH on P. hyterophorus growth and fecundity, well burial depths seed survival emergence. The first five levels (acidic, sub-acidic, neutral, sub-basic, basic) in a randomised complete block design. Seed germinability subsequent seedling (height, leaf area, biomass, number/plant) were evaluated. showed that seeds have similar germination capacity under varying conditions. However, acidic indicated accelerated (25% higher biomass with 15.2% more area) fecundity (13.4% faster to enter flowering stage at 74 days after sowing). In second study, two factors tested; (0.5, 5, 10, 20 cm) being nested into seven durations (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 months). viability (final percentage rate index), electrical conductance, emergence assessed results only buried 0.5 cm depth (81.3% cumulative emergence). Forty per cent remained viable exhumation 0.5–5 depth, while 19–27% survived increased beyond 10 within months. for than months bank, despite deterioration increasing depth.

Ecological Impacts of Weed (Parthenium hysterophorus L.) Invasion in Saline Soil
Parthenium density and species richness were found to be more in non-invaded (N-I) sites as compared to invaded (I) sites of Jaunpur district. pH, OC and %N of the soil indicates that the plant survive naturally at higher level of salinity. In pot experiment, plant growth, proline content, TSS content, chlorophyll, N, P and K was not significantly affected up to 1% NaCl (w/w) over the control a...

Understanding the patterns of genetic structure in the introduced range of invasive species can help elucidate invasion histories and levels of gene flow among populations. Parthenium weed (Parthenium hysterophorus L.; PW) is native to the Gulf of Mexico and central South America but has become globally invasive during the last three decades and little is known about the genetics of this specie...

Congress grass, Parthenium hysterophorus L., of the family Asteraceae (tribe: Heliantheae), is an erect and much branched annual or ephermeral herb, known for its notorious role as environmental, medical, and agricultural hazards. It is believed to have been introduced into India and Australia from North America and in the last few years the weed has emerged as the seventh most devastating weed...
متن کاملSeed germination response of Haloxylon persicum (Chenopodiaceae) to different hydrothermal conditions and sand burial depths
Daily counts of germinated seeds of white saxaul (Haloxylon persicum) incubated at 35 different hydrothermal environments (10-25?C and 0 to -3 MPa) were carried out under controlled laboratory conditions. The seeds were then buried in sand at 4 different depths in well drained pots constantly moisturized for three weeks. In all these hydrothermal conditions, the courses of germination were comp...
